You might want to go for a neutral that is not in the brown family. Like a shade of green, or a yellow, something that is not too much color for you but will still contrast with what you have. Get some of those color sticks at Sherwin Williams or Lowes and bring them home and hold them up next to your cupboards, etc. Once you narrow down, you can even get samples made of those colors and paint sample patches on your walls to see which you like best.
I wouldn't go with a beige or white. A light sage, gray or a bluish green color like Rainswept by Sherwin Williams will give you lots of options.
Match the white on the appliances, paint all the cabinets that color but accent an island or a lower cabinet in a turquoise or green for a splash of color.
I don't know how often you haunt the paint department..but the kilz company has peel and stick paint color Samples. Free. I'm looking to do my kitchen walls in the near future..the cabinets for the sink are getting ratty..
If your countertop has a marbled appearance, find a grey that matches, and use that for lower cabinets or island.
If you can take the small door off the bottom of the range I would take it to the paint store and they can match it.
