Not knowing the way the rooms connect, or what your colors are, I will say to use a lighter color in the hallway since the Kitchen has at least a window it can handle a darker shade. If you go dark in the hallway it will look like a tunnel.
Not knowing how the rooms actually connect, or the colors you are working with, I will say to use a lighter shade in the hallway so it wont look like a tunnel, and use a slightly darker shade in the kitchen. Since there is at least one window in the room it has additional light and can handle a darker shade of color.

Depending on the color of your kitchen cabinets, I love a blue kitchen. Perhaps a soft blue in the kitchen, and a complementary blue/gray in the hallway?
