Apple cider is acidic. Not good with aluminum. Add heat and this is not a good idea
Aluminum causes Alzheimer's.
Will cause pitting of the aluminum.
Aluminum... might give it a metallic taste... better if you use enamel, steel or glass. FYI when canning things like pickles in vinegar.. they call for a "non-reactive" pot like stainless steel.. I think that would apply to cider too... if you are doing a lot of cider... use your crock pot
That's what my mom always did when I was a kid and I am in my sixties and healthy as a horse. Don't see why you can't. Back then, you didn't have fancy pots and pans, it was aluminum or steel and that was it, not much choice in coffee pots either, no microwaves either. She even used the big banquet size coffee pots for spiced apple cider or hot toddies for parties.
Thanks everyone....Think I will use my crock pot...
sure why not unless the old pot has a taste of coffee
no it is to acidic
Won't it erode the element.
Apple Cider is not acidic. Maybe you are thinking of Apple Cider Vinegar. I use a big old banquet coffee pot filled with hot mulled cider every fall for parties. I have never had a metallic taste or problem with it eroding or pitting the pot. Here is a chart that will tell you about acidic foods.....http://alkalife.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Acid-Alkaline-Food-Chart-ph-Balance-Alkalife.pdf
