Sounds like you have very hard water (high mineral content), so you will probably have to keep using the pumice stone periodically.
Start by putting a cup of baking soda in the toilet and top it off with a half cup of vinegar. It will fizzle,. Let it sit for 1. Hour, scrub and then flush. Put some vinegar in the tank and let that sit 2 hrs, then take a brush and scrub the inside of the tank where the water line is. Do this once a month. Good Luck!
Yes, the scale will come back. What you have is hard water - water with calcium and salts in it. You will need to put a water softener in your house.
