Unicorn Spit is colored wood stain. Instead of making chalk paint, buy some small samples at a craft store and see what they look like when you paint with them. Test it out/ Waxing is a way to protect the surface if it is going to get a lot of use (like a table top). Annie Sloan is a very popular pre-made chalk paint that has it's own wax line. Perhaps you can look up a retailer in your area that deals in it and talk to someone there. My local retailer offers classes.
1/2 cup plaster of Paris. 1/2 cup warm water and mix until powder is desolved , mix in 1 1/2 cup latex paint. Stir really well and paint.
I appreciate the recipe for the paint but what about the wax? I live in the country, farming towns, and around me are only small towns without craft stores and buying readymade chalk paint is too expansive. Thanks for the answers, but I still need more answers as I am still confused.
