Wash the entire piece down with white vinegar mixed with water, place outdoes in the sun.Allow the piece to dry out.
Clean it up with soap and water to get most of it off. Rinse it with bleach water to try and inhibit the mold and mildew. I would also finish with a vinegar rinse for the antibacterial and antifungal properties and may also get rid of the musty smell that I am sure is present. Let the vinegar dry on the crate to get the most effect. The smell will go away when it is totally dry.
Hi Nancy. Try scrubbing it with bleach water.
Spray it with water + wood bleach solution, and when wood is clear, rinse well and let dry.
try using white vinegar in a small area. Be careful if there is a label you want to keep.
