Soak in a bathtub that's always worked for me. Depending on how dirty you may need (I know I know it stinks) to add some Amoinia to let it soak. If there's any grease add a bit of Blue Dawn. Not too much you have to rinse it off remember. Start with HOT WATER and let them soak. I use the shower to rinse. To dry I put up Command hooks on the shower wall to dry. Then just hook them up to rinse and dry. If you live in a house you can do the same on the outside, then take the hooks off.... GOOD LUCK.... .......Gigi

Soak in a bathtub with Oxyclean. If you put "clean mini blinds" in the search box there are more then 20 suggestions.
Start with a little bleach 1/2 cup with water, 1 quart. Use a sponge, and dip it in the solution, squeeze the excess out. Next, put the sponge around the cord, at the top, and slide it down to the bottom. Do this 1-2 times, this should clean the dirt off.
I used watered down bleach on the cords 😃
I TAKE MINE OUTSIDE AND HANG OF NAILS THAT STAY ON MY FENSE PUT A SOLUTION OF HOT WATER AND OXYCLEAN IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRAY THEM DOWN... WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND SPRAY THEM WITH GARGEN HOSE. LET ALMOST DRY (I SAY ALMOST DRY) AS I DO MANY AT ONE TIME AND NEED THE SPACE FOR THE NEXT FEW...
HOPE THAT HELPED
You have to take them down and clean them in your bath tub. Just lay a towel on the bottom of the tub first. Add warm water, and a drop of soap, and some Oxyclean. Wipe the slats down, and swish up and down some. The Ocyclean will "bleach" the string.
