It sounds like there is a clog in the pipe. The easiest is to put baking soda down the drain, then pour white vinegar in it. It will bubble and loosen the clog. Then pour hot (stove hot) water down the drain. That should clear it. If that doesn't work after doing it a couple times, try a plumbers snake. You can rent them.

Thanks I have the same problem after doing a few days dishes. Using another plumbers tool plunger. If you have 2 sinks together, cork one and start plunging. Quite a workout too. I rotate cork back and forth. I heard dish soap and the 2 pots hot boiling water works too, along with plunging.

Our home was hand-built in 1910 by previous owner. Many issues have arisen with our plumbing, because of old cast piping. However, I used a 50' plumbers snake, boiled big pan of hot water, (I have a double sink) so turned on hot water on one side and let run, while slowly pouring boiling water down other side. (I do this 2x/month) if this doesn't work, unfortunately, you may need to call plumber, could be a clog further down line.

Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down drain, follow with 1 cup vinegar, let sit 30 minutes. Pour 2 cups boiling water down drain, let sit 5 minutes. Flush with hot running water.
