Choose colours you want from patterned curtains, pillows, runners or rugs that you like.
If you want to stay true to the era use historical colours or do a search for the colours for your style/age of home: crafstman, Victorian, colonial etc.

What colors do you love to have around you? Right now, greys, whites, taupes, and mossy greens are popular. If you are talking about the outside, go more neutral, and maybe even use black for shutters... If you are talking interior, then choose a family of colors that you love. IF you are going to sell within five years, go with popular colors now. IF you are in for the longhall, you can go a little outside the popular colors. But you should ALWAYS have colors around you that make you happy. For instance, I don't like beige. Can't stand to have beige around me. So we have white trim. I love green, so we have shades of soft green in many rooms, along with some soft yellow.
