This article was written for 2017 so we should still be in that time frame. No matter what color you choose, it will go out of style and a new one will come in. I had my countertop custom made in the mid 1970's. (I know, a long time ago now) At that time the gold leather look was very in. Five years later, it was gone. I still have that countertop and because of the custom size and shape it will be expensive to replace. Where normally 2 pieces would meet to form a corner, mine is shaped differently. The back corner isn't flat - it has a very hard to describe custom look. The front of that corner is flat for about 15 inches or so before it connects to each end - no seams visible. I can't even just remove it and slap on two pieces because of that front edge - sigh. The point of my story is that whether something is 'in' or not, get what YOU like. You'll be living with it long after it goes 'out'.

    Linda makes a great point!

I will say I just moved in this year and when looking I saw quite a bit of both light and dark. Do what you think looks best with the rest of your decor and keep lighting in mind.

LIght colored hardwood has had a longtime connection to the Scandanavian decorating look. While it may not be as familiar to those in North America, it has been "timelessly in style" in parts of Europe.

I would say get what you like, who cares if it goes out of style in a couple years. If you buy something because it is in, you may grow to hate it.

    I personally think it's timelessly beautiful :) . But that's your choice!

If it works with your furnishings and other decor and it pleases you then it’s stylish. If you’re doing a complete make over, including fieniture, choose the furniture first
