Tape off the part of the deck and base you don’t want to paint. Use masking tape or a painter’s tape. Do the same at the top of the spindles if that’s not supposed to be painted, either. 😇💞�

I attempted the staining with Thompson’s Sealant...using sprayers, mop heads, and rags. The project was a huge mess and unsuccessful. Any suggestions?so frustrating...

I have used a rag to do spindels. Works great! But...use rubber gloves.

I wear gloves and use a regular kitchen sponge. It easily bends and you'll have great control (easy to hold and dip)
