Add liquid fabric softener to warm water. Use an old towel or cloth to spread the solution on the wall paper. Let it soak in. Peel off. It may take more than one soaking to remove the paper.
Oh no, this isn't crazy. Using fabric softener is a common way to try to soften or loosen up the wallpaper, hopefully to make it easier to get it off.
Just mix it with water in a spray bottle and drench the wallpaper with it and allow it to thoroughly soak in. The wallpaper will eventually peel right off.

You're welcome. The job will still be messy, so be prepared to get wet. At least your clothes and hair will smell nice like fabric softener!
