Please go to the closest veterinarian asap and ask for their professional advice. You can waste more money trying various useless suggestions than actually going to a reputable source! I once saw a tiny kitten infested with fleas; it actually was going nuts with the itching, infected sores and died. My daughter is an Animal Health Technician and there are good products out there! If you think your carpets are βtaken care ofβ, please continue to be extremely proactive and make sure your vacuum system (whatever type you have) is thoroughly rid of fleas ... they are very persistent.
You can try a vinegar or lemon spray or rub them with a cloth soaked in vinegar or lemon. (Cats don't much like citrus of any kind.)
They won't drop dead right away and you might have to keep it up for a while. http://www.fleaguide.com/homemade-flea-spray.html
Brewers yeast made for animals works.
I use this type of spray for everything in the house, strip and wash all bedding etc. clean your house like you have lice wash everything. Spray this or something similar on mattresses carpets literally all soft surfaces. It stops the fleas from being able to breed if they hatch from eggs and kills the ones alive at the moment. I wear a mask and gloves and do one room at a time then let dry before re entry. Once it's dry it is safe to people and animals. I even spray pillows and stuffed animals. Everything. Dawn dish soap is safe and effective for bathing the cats but if they go outside they are just going to get more fleas. 1/2 cup of dawn and 1/2 cup white vinegar mixed with two cups of warm water. The vinegar helps with itching. Shampoo the cat with mixture if bunches of fleas are on the cat I would let it sit for five minutes Then rinse well. I also use my conditioner then rinse out. The fleas tend to run to the booty of the cat. Hydrocortisone spray for cats works to help the irritation from the fleas. Not natural I suppose but it does work.
I did flea bombs twice, years ago & it worked great.
I work as a foster coordinator for a kitty program that deals with this issue yearly. First I want to say that fleas will kill a kitten so if the kitten is thin, or in poor health it is imperative to get them to a vet to get an injection to kill the fleas. If they are not in poor health and just going nuts from the fleas you can get a product called FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth. It can be rubbed directly on the kitten , put on the carpet, so safe it is added to their food for good health. Read up on it , make sure to only get food grade. You can get it at any Lowe's, home Depot and many other places. Hope this helps .
Your poor babies! I have heard that Dawn dish liquid works for killing fleas on cats...if they can be bathed! It is imperative that you keep vacuuming your carpets to pick up flea eggs and grit...do not spray anything chemical on them or on your carpets as the lingering odor could make your cats sick....do your cats go out? That is a problem in bringing fleas indoors...also at Petsmart or Petco there are flea products for cats as well...if you choose to do this, talk to the knowledgable people who work there ...they will help you understand the way these work....
No Jan, they are not outside AT all cats.... but I think they got them when I moved.
The Adams is a spray you control where it goes. The eggs from the fleas are everywhere this type of spray helps for 210 days with the eggs. I'm allergic to pesticides and my daughter is allergic to fleas. It really does work.
its perfectly safe once dry. No lingering smell either. I've used this type of spray for over ten years and my animals are never effected. They feel better when the fleas are gone and so does my family. It takes one egg to hatch and mature you have to break their life cycle. I'm all about natural and safe things but my animals happiness matters more. Look up the flea life cycle and how long their eggs are dormant and hatch when in the right environment. You HAVE to break the cycle.
maybe call a pesticide company also. They might have natural options. It sounds like your house was infested before you moved in.
Talk to a vet about giving them a bath.
Get "advantix" from the vets , my cat was allergic to the flea bites, chewed her fur off her back and tail. Stuff is a miracle. ππ―π
Never get store brand flea medicine.πππ
Will not hurt the cats ("advantix") one of my fur babies was 19 when she passed, used the medicine her whole life. π
