Easy Way to Unclog Drain With Common Household Products
dump in half cup baking soda, then add a heated half cup of hot vinegar and pour over. Leave 1 hour in the drain before adding a heated half cup of hot vinegar and pour over. Leave 1 hour in drain before adding water
Well I use it with a cup of white vinagar and soda.
No! You have to get the hair out as it also traps soap scum and everything else that goes down the sink. There are these little plastic strips, you can get real cheap, that have barbs on them. They are made to pull hair out of the drains. Once you do this, you need to clean the scum out of the pipes. Put down a quarter cup of baking soda and about half to a cup of vinegar. Let it foam and fizz for at least ten minutes. Boil a gallon of water and put it down the sink to rinse everything away. You should have clear pipes now. It is good for any pipes and can be used on the tub, kitchen, all sinks to keep them clean. This shouldn't take you more than a half hour start to finish with time of a cup of coffee while you wait.
The best thing is to put baking soda and vinegar down the drain. It will bubble to loosen the clog. Then flush with a lot of boiling water. That should send the clog on it's way.
o, it should not be used as it will not help. You will need a plumbing snake or some drain unclogger that you get from a hardware store. You can shop online to get whichever is inexpensive. The best prevention is to get a little screen drain (they have them at the hardware stores, and you need to know how wide the drain opening is to get the right size. Keep that in the drain and if it gets full of anything (including hair), empty it out into the trash and you should not have this issue again.
I've also tried the baking soda & vinegar. Didn't work for me. I buy Insta-Flo at our local hardware store.
