Outdoor or indoor? I think indoors it is easier to create separate areas. Outside you'd need to deal with fencing or gating things off.
Hi Oscardchance. What I did for the two that I babysit for, (with the mothers blessings) I used the love seat/sofa and pulled it out from the wall to create a play area for the boys cars and track behind. Leaving the rest of the room for the girl to play with her dolls, dollhouse, etc. and a place for me to sit and watch both. Hope this works for yo.
Put a sitting area together in the middle using your love seat and some chairs and a play table in the middle for joint play like games, snacks, or tea parties. Have one side of the room for his tracks and trucks ( a rug with "streets" would be good here) Put stuff she likes to play with in the other side... Duplo blocks would give her something to build (with your or her brother's help) and tear apart as she wishes... a different colored rug would go here. You could put storage units or bins on both side for cleanup when needed.
I didn't think to divide with my seating. Sitting in the center will make it so much easier to keep her from destroying his tracks. If she can't see what he's playing with she'll be happy with her toys. That's so much easier than trying to make a fence between the two. If she can see it she will want it. Little cars and toys for a big brother are too dangerous for a little sister. Thanks again. I think I'LL try both the great ideas.
Glad you liked my idea and hope it works for the little guy.
