I believe you can use a lemon 1/2 with salt. Just scrub it on, then rinse.
I also like to use Magic Eraser's. They work great for stains on dishes, water marks from our hard water, or coffee and tea stains in mugs.
Real Simple found a natural and surprising way to clean tarnished copper. All it takes is pouring a dab of ketchup onto a cloth and rubbing it on the item. Then, rinse with warm water and dry normally
If it is a small item you can take 1 1/2 cups of vinegar and 2 TBSP of salt and put it into a pan. Place your item in the pan also and fill over with water. Bring to a boil on stove top. Keep boiling until tarnish comes off. If it is a pipe, you can either use Ketchup and rub with a non-scratch pad until build-up is removed, or you can make a paste of salt and vinegar and rub until removed. Remember if you want to keep the polished look then clean off any residue and apply ProtectaClear or Everbrite to protect the copper from tarnish and corrosion.
Make a paste of vinegar (or lemon juice), salt and corn meal.
