I did. I used hammered metal spray paint. I taped off the edges of it and taped papers all around the counter. I held a heavy cardboard to keep the spray off the wall. It has lasted over a year.
We painted ours years ago with Hammerite metal paint and they are still looking as good as new. They have a whole bunch of colors too. The taps in our fairy bathroom are a metallic blue and the ones in the mater bedroom are a beautiful copper/gold
I had my done at a shop that specializes in auto paint. They also did major appliances. I picked out the color and they did a wonderful job. They use a process just like painting the metal parts of a car. That was about 15 yrs. ago. Some of the paint has thinned a little from cleaning, you do not use abrasives on this, but otherwise it looks great yet.
