if there is superficial flaking rust, I would sand it a bit. Some rust may go deep and then might want to use a Rustoleum rust inhibitor first to seal the rust.
Hello Ddean771, Use a wire-bristle brush to remove as much rust as you can. Then spray anti-rust paint made by Rustoleum. Then paint the entire shed. That will help prevent any more rust.
Wire brush or steel wool - go over the rust and then prime it with a good primer like Kilz before painting.
I would ask what would cause the rust, go back where you got it, and find out the reason for the rust. To me, rust is usually made from rains, or dew, or shade, that doesn't evaporate. I would find out more info about this, before you paint it. J.
You will have better results if you sand the rust first. Then, paint with a good quality rust-preventive paint like Rustoleum.
metal shed especially if not geated will have condensation more often then not! These shed are not painted very heavy with paint and they will rust easily more often then not!! As far as what’s the best paint for your project I would talk to a paint store what they would recommend! If your spray painting, make sure to paint it with a few coats to keep the rust from forming too quickly! Good venting can help the conden issues too! Unless you want to go to the cost to insulate your shed on the inside?
