That depends on how much lighting g the stairwell has?
Myself, I would want it to blend in with the area on the main floor it comes off of and the hallway at the top of the stairs, It need not tie in with one of the bedrooms since they are very differing color schemes. The only way to tie them in would be to find a wall paper that has all your colors, or the main ones and run it down the hall and down the stairway walls. This is my opinion only, what you decide to do is up to you because you will be living with the decision and should do what makes you happy and love what you are doing.
Look at dish plate colors that have alot of colors in them. One pattern of colors will be to your liking pick the remaing color from it
Is this stair well visible from the living room? You want to consider that as the more important color it must blend with. Also a stairwell does not typically have much natural light, so any color may look darker once on the walls.
How about a steel blue/gray?
