How difficult is it to strip chalk painted and waxed furniture?

I haven't used chalk paint yet, and before I do,,I'd like to know the process for stripping the wax and paint to bare wood (or original finish). Also, what kind of texture does chalk paint have when dry? Why does it need to be waxed or sealed if regular paint doesn't?
Would you choose chalk paint over conventional or mineral paint if you're not going to distress?
TIA
