I would have to say yes. I have seen painted acoustical tiles done before and they looked great. Take the tiles out of the grid if grid mounted before painting. Use a latex paint applied with a roller. If painting the grid paint that in place with the same paint.
If your not going to repaint the grid, paint tiles on the floor they should dry quick and can be reinstalled soon after painting, do as many as you want at a time or stretch it over a period of times. Good luck with your project I think you will love it.

Yes! But don't paint the metal grid without a primer first.
I have painted many over time! Will take several coats to cover the tiny grooves. They look GREAT painted. Be creative!!
