Replace the seal inside the toilet tank
Pat is correct. Most refer to it as a flapper. Cost you $5 to $10. Really easy to replace.

see if the flap isn't closing properly. Sometimes those get stuck in the open position. If you can't adjust the chain so that it closes, its pretty simple to replace the insides.
1. make sure the flap in the tank is sealing and 2. make sure the small chain isn’t interfering with the freedom of the flap. 3. if you have hard water a crust can buildup on any moving part.. if #1&2 don’t fix it replace with a good quality repair kit. Korky flapper repair kit is good starter. be sure to smooth the seat where the flapper seats also..there is no toilet problem an average diy’er can’t fix or repair if you take your time and are careful..there are plenty UTube videos that show how, from the floor valve up.
need a new flapper kit installed.
I agree! Best to replace the flapper. They get hard and warped over time. Make sure the chain is loose enough so the flapper seals the opening. A few loose links will work.
Thanks, I will try that.
