I have heard of people using paint with sand in it to add so traction. Call some paint stores and ask their recommendations.

There are deck paints that look amazing, have many colors and different additives to prevent slippage. They are exterior, so do it in weather where you can open windows. Maybe wears mask. It will hold up beautifully!
You can either buy a paint that is made to be non-slip or you can add some sand to the paint and do the same thing.
