Pour in a cup of baking soda.......be sure it is in good. Then add a cup of white vinegar. It will foam and fizz....just let it go for about 15 minutes. If the water isn't down by then be very careful and run some hot water to see if it will let loose. I have used this in my toilet also. Always works.

The Best Way to Remove Mold & Mildew With 2 Ingredients (NO Bleach!)
Probably have a bunch of hair down there. First go to either hardware store or Dollar Tree and buy a sink snake that has a bunch of barbs along the edges...... https://www.dollartree.com/Drain-Rooter-Plastic-Drain-Snakes/p367732/index.pro

Lastly if not running/draining right, remove the P-trap below and empty it and snake out the drain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PI0iaIB6-4
You can also pour a cup of dishwashing liquid in the sink, let set for 30 minutes then plunge it again. If that don't work, take the trap apart under the sink.
Home Depot/Lowe's also sell plastic trap cleaning tools that are about 2 feet long with bards along the length that you can use to pull hair and such out of the drain. They cost about $3. I'd do the soap first, then the $3 tool and if that does it then do the baking soda for a final cleaning.
LOL, I use all three.

Sounds like the clog is a little further down the line. it may need to be rodded. You can buy a 1/4" 25' snake, remove the P trap under the sink and rod it through. Always good to have on hand. I Have three different sizes on hand.
