Cleaning Oven Racks in Bath With Foil: The Easy Method
I place mine inside a black plastic garbage bag. Add ammonia, shut securely and let that sit in the summer sun for about 6 hours or longer. Pull them out wipe off and rinse well.
I would put them in the bathtub and let them soak overnight.
Most people recommend giving them a good soak in the bathtub, using either dish soap or scrubbing them down with baking soda and then spraying vinegar and scrubbing.
Place racks in a big garbage bag. Pour about a cup of amonia in it. Tie tightly. Amonia fumes will loosen burned on gunk, so it's not necessary to actually soak the racks in the amonia. 24 hours is usually enough time. Take out, wash and dry. If any gunk left, soak for another day. CAUTION-Work in a well ventilated area. Make sure to keep any chlorine bleach or any product containing bleach or chlorine away from amonia. Will produce noxious gas that can make you VERY sick or even cause death. !

I soaked mine in water and fabric softener sheets, worked great for me!
