Can I dye black faux leather chairs?

I love my dining room chairs except for the color....they are black. I would love to dye them a taupe or gray color. Is it possible to do this myself or is it best to leave it to the professionals? There are 6 of them.

Have you thought of maybe making a cover for them. I wouldn't try dying them myself. I would check with a professional.

  I bought some rather expensive chaircovers but they don’t look good. The backs of the chairs have a slight curve and they are tapered, which combined with the smooth finish on my chairs makes it very difficult to have slipcovers fit properly and stay in place. I think a professional dye job is my only alternative.

  Google it....you CAN dye them. A long process but we'll worth it. I am going to do it on my sofa.

YES YOU CAN... I have done a few projects using automotive intetior fabric paint ehich comes in many colors. No clear sealing after painting. Check auto parts store. Good luck!
