You could always put moulding down each seam and paint it a contrasting color. (EX: White walls, grey trim)
If those walls have a vinyl coating, you need to prep by tSP cleaning and maybe a primer so the mud sticks.
The basic method of mudding doesn't always work in modular homes; especially ones that have been painted several times. My advice would be testing out each method in a section of one room from beginning to end to see what works in that home.
We did a room in our house, when we went to paint the entire room had bubbles within two days, we replaced the walls with sheetrock
I did this in my daughters modular home. Removed all the trim. Used no shrink drywall patching compound and filled the seams. Just used enough to fill the seams Let it dry over night. Next day used a damp sponge to smooth out the patch. Then just primer and painted.
This guy has nice videos. After film 1, it will take you to film 2, then to 3.

We used drywall mud filed the cracks and put a thin layer on the rest of the wall the end result looks like it's tape and textured drywall after We painted.
