You could buy some product to unclog the drain. If that doesn't work call the plumber to run a rotorooter through the lines.
sounds like you have a clog in the line somewhere. Call a plumber.
Are you in a cold weather area? Are the pipes frozen?
add a cup of baking soda to the drain, pour in a cup of white vinegar; it will bubble and foam... when that stops pour in 2 cups of BOILING water. I use this formula once a month on all my kitchen drains -- not as effective on bathroom drains ( they get hair in them )
Most likely the clog is in the cross piece between the disposal and the main drain under the sink. Remove it and clean it out. Fine peels from carrots, potatoes, and cucumbers are usually the culprit because they compact in the drain.
The pipes under the sink may be clogged somewhere from the disposal to the main drain where it connects to the other side of the sink. It sounds like you don't have a problem with the other side. The pipes are not hard to take apart and put back together again. Make sure you have a pail under the pipes when you loosen them, they will drain. Clean out the pipes and it should work again, if not you may need the drain snaked.
Try plunging , (preferably NOT with the toilet plunger). Plug the opposite sink, turn on the water and disposal and plunge aggressively. This usually loosens the clog.
The main drain may be clogged. If so, you might have to have it "snaked" by a plumber to open the drain.
