Small drips possible repair.

This pipe is in my laundry room. I noticed on top of the dryer there was some residue and I think it may have been dripping. I am unsure what this pipe is and if it is a project I can tackle. Any information on what it is or if there is something I can do to prevent it from dripping feedback would be appreciated.

This looks like a clean out for your plumbing... if it is dripping... you may want to have a plumber come check it out.. before it becomes a major problem... HomeAdvisor.com or Angieslist.com are free services who verify all of the people and companies they recommend

I would have that checked out, I don't know if a lay person would be able to work on that. It looks like it has been dripping for a while, but very slowly.

What is used for? What does the label say? I have seen similar in homes built in the 40's. They were grease traps for kitchen drains. Some were tees, square boxes, and tubular. That's when soap had lye and phosphates in it. I removed a lot of them. But I have never seen what you have.
