Can I paint my popcorn ceiling?

Don't try to sand it! It will just shred. Clean well. I like to use white vinegar. let it dry completely. Use spray paint-I like Rustoleum. It dries quickly, and will give you smooth, even coverage if you take your time.

My secret is to key the surface so that paint will adhere by using coats of liquid sander. Paint two thin coats, and you will notice there is a very slightly rough feel to the surface when it’s dry. That’s what keeps the paint onto your cupboard, but it won’t ruin a nice smooth finish. Then paint the cupboard, and finish it with an acrylic sealer. It will be very hard wearing. Alternatively, you could use chalk paint which sticks to anything, but don’t use wax to seal it....again, use acrylic sealer. Hope this helps.
