I, personally, would strip the table, prime it and paint it. In the meantime, a table runner, tablecloth or place mats to cover would be my suggestion. Good Luck!
I have recently saw something about tooth paste removing water marks on wood, but I'm sorry it was on Facebook and cant find ut...try a search for other uses for toothpaste
Water stains can be removed from wood with brown paper and a hot iron put paper over again and hold hot iron on or over it for a few seconds repeat until gone however not sure it would work on your stain now you've painted over it
Perhaps you can duplicate the stain on the underside of the table and try using Dawn and baking soda (because it is a oil). Or try majic eraser. If all else fails, use General Finish to restrain (no need to Stand).
Remove watermarks from furniture
ISTOCK/SPOOHYou leave coasters around. But some people just won't use them. To get rid of those telltale watermark rings left by sweating beverages, gently rub some non-gel toothpaste on the wood with a soft cloth. Then wipe it off with a damp cloth and let it dry before applying furniture polish.
I have removed water stains on fine wood by covering it with mayonnaise, let it stand overnight, then remove the mayo and stain should also be gone. Works for me, but that might have had to be done before trying to paint over the stain.
Try Mr. Clean Magic Eracer it seems to remove almost anything
This is not a stain. The oil has dissolved the finish. The only way to be rid of it is to refinish the surface. Sorry.
I agree with Carol. The finish is gone. You can see the bare wood. That is obviously NOT a stain. Good luck with it.
