Can you etch your existing bathroom mirrors while they are up?

The etching crème is usually pretty thick, so I don't see why you couldn't. I would just make sure you cover the rest of the mirror with paper and tape so it doesn't smear where you don't want it to be!

You could always use Static Cling - maybe?

We put a pattern on a glass mirror and used a dremel to etch the pattern in.

Yes I have done this but make sure you protect the other areas In case of a slip.

Resolve to doing a small space at a time. Otherwise you might not be ready when it comes time to remove the etching cream. Stencils can be fun in case you don't want to freehand.. Clear the decks, and use lots of junk towels and a few containers of rinse water, sponges and such. Perhaps get a small, maybe even cracked mirror at a thrift store to practice on, your skills, how much time is required, etc. before going on your bigger mirrors. Make sure your etching cream isn't old (package should be dated) and don't leave on longer than the directions say (more is not better). Use gloves, and don't try to do it all in one session- it can be exhausting to work with your arms reaching over the counter and above your head. Good Luck-we believe in you!

Do check out it out, especially about how the etching process weakens the glass, sometimes to the point where the glass breaks.

I etched my glass front door using stencils with spray glue to hold them so that the etching cream does not move into any areas you don't want to etch. The glue can be cleaned off when you are finished. Good decorating!
