If it's torn, you can use leather repair kits which use a liquid vinyl product. You mix the colors to match your leather.
easure the dimensions of the chair. Then Check out local fabric or upholstery suppliers. You can often find remnants of quality vinyl (leather look) that can be used to cover the chair. Higher end vinyl has a better quality fabric backing which will hold up to heavy usage. I recommend removing the old vinyl or leather or you can add a layer of padding and staple or upholstery tack the new cover on. If you don't want to remove the old cover repair the tear by cleaning the cover well, degrease with alcohol and use Duct tape to cover the tear. If the tear is vertical cut strips at least 4 inches wider on each side of the tear and apply them horizontally. or vice versa. Then cover the outside edges of the repair tape. This will give you a reasonably good repair. Good luck.
Call a local car dealership and see who they use to repair upholstry and torn leather.
I agree with Laura, I have used these products and they work great !
Duct tape in an interesting design is a quick fix but not ideal. Recovering would be better but much more complex.
