We have all different lamps in our living room and they look great. They all compliment each other- I don't think they need to be identical.
Look up OIL LAMPS on eBay, I found most of mine there. Unless they are in a place (either side of a bed) they don't have to be identical, and even then so long as they are the same height and roughly the same shape.
I have different lamps from the same era they look great
I have a pair.....
I Have a pair for sale...im in central Florida
No I don’t think thy need to match.I love old school lamps and mine don’t match that’s what makes unique! Have fun!
They don't have to match, but the colors need to be complementary/compatible
I agree with Landshark, the colors need to complement each other but the lamps don't have to be twins. Enjoy the hunt for them, it's half the fun.
Thanks
Very cool if they matches - but make them compatible with color. The style can vary though.
I personally don't like things like that to match because it gives you a chance to have two different patterns to enjoy. The colors as long as they go with or compliment the furnishings can be different. Sizes, too., dont' really matter as long as they aren't too far different. My mother had a gorgeous one I remember. Happy you want to use this type of beautiful lamp and have the furnishings for them. Ebay is a great source , Put "Vintage Victorian Hurricane Lamps" in the search box. If you get too many to search through narrow the search by price, color or free shipping on the menu on the left side of the page.
I agree that you do not nee to match them, but after my aunt's experience, if you buy antique lamps, please have a professional check them. I had my aunt's checked and the tech told me it was a fire waiting to happen.
I love them too. They don't have to match, but looking for a match would be a good project.
We have 3 different "Gone with the Wind" lamps in our livingroom people always comment on them when we have company.
I perfer not matching so the art is varied.
For a traditional look - if using on either side of a sofa , they should match. If matching is not possible be of the same style . As these types of lamps are hard to read by, consider using them as an accent of a table beside a side chair.
