Always remove cabinet doors/hardware. Number each door and hardware. Clean all surfaces to be painted with TSP. As far as paint there are paints made for cabinets in just about every brand. Chalk paint or mineral paint will work but I would not seal with wax because the wax can melt in the heat of a kitchen and it needs to be reapplied yearly. I have done quite a bit of reading since I plan on painting mine this summer and have narrowed my choices down to Dixie Belle mineral paints (sold by independent distributors) or Paint All mineral paint (sold on Amazon). I have more research to do on the latter but I know the Dixie Belle paint line has everything you need to complete the project and looks fabulous when done. Hometalk has posts on both products on kitchen cabinets. Another good choice would be the General Finishes product line, also can be seen on Hometalk.
