Try chemically engraving. You can purchase the product needed at places like Pat Catans, Michaels, or Joanns.
That would shatter I believe, but call a glass company to make sure.
Armour etch might do it. Says does not work on some pyrex and not intended to etch large solid areas. Isn't the glass in most entry doors tempered anymore? Think it will work if not covering whole table with 1 solid etching.
