This is a bar with 4 chairs, we bought it to put out on our outside patio . Over time it looks like mildew has set in the wood. The guy we bought it from said it would be ok. Now how do remove the mildew ?

Give the whole set a good cleaning with vinegar, water and detergent. After that is completely dry, wash it again with bleach water. Since the damage is so deep, you want a deep cleaning. Then paint the set with a good preventive paint, like from the Rustoleum line. Then you can paint with chalk paint and triple seal so you can use the set outside. Be sure to polish or paint any leg caps or other hardware and seal that, too. ☺️

    Hi Sharon,
If you have a power washer or can borrow one, power wash all the mold off and trust me it will come off, then give it a coat of marine varnish to keep the mildew/mold from coming back! You can also give it a quick coat of stain before the marine varnish if you want to change the color. Cheers!

Hi Sharon. I would spray it with a 50/50 mix of bleach and water, and then let it sit in the sun.

Whatever you wash it with, be sure to let it dry fully in the sun for a day or two - especially if you powerwash - otherwise the wood will not dry out all the way. They told me to let my deck dry for a week after powerwashing ...

Hi, After you get this really clean, wipe it down everywhere with straight vinegar. Will not discolor and retards mold growth. We always wiped down the inside of our sailboat with vinegar and rarely had a mold problem.

Please u a mask dont like the color of some of that( we just went through a nightmare here) peroxide is the only thing that truly kills mold and zinsser paint the only paint that truly reatards it IF its been killed— not sure if you can add color to it today but check. Husband almost died mold in the house— Good luck.

I find peroxide is a better mold remover and that bleach only whitens the mold, not remove it.
