Experienced cabinet painters- advice needed!
- Should I strip the existing paint off first or can I paint over it?
- What prep work do I need to do if not stripping old paint?
- What kind of paint...oil based, chalk paint, milk paint, or I’ve read BM has a great one for cabinet, or other?

Painting over the paint depends on what finish the paint is. If if is glossy you will have to sand away the gloss. If it is flat you can paint over it. You could strip the old paint but that is a far bigger and messier job than you might really want to do--stripping paint off kitchen cabinets is a HUGE job. Iwould BUY cabinets first before I would do that!! LOL! Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore do have paint that works for kitchen cabinets and wears well. An acrylic enamel that you can get in different finishes. I like a more matte finish myself. What you could do is to remove a cabinet door and take it to your local paint store and see what they recommend. I am not a fan of chalk paint for kitchen cabinets.
