The most effective long-term solutions for ice dams are to keep heat out of the attic and to promote ventilation under the roof deck to keep it as cold as possible. The underside of the roof deck must be close to the temperature of the exterior side of the roof.

Thank you. I tried that by checking and or changing the Moore Vents that lead from the interior attic to the exterior. Since posting I have also been taking a snow rake to the areas that typically build up with ice and so far so good. Thank's again!

Ice means you’re losing heat, you need to get someone in to look in you attic and thoroughly check your roof before you have a bigger issue. One they find the source of your heatloss the ice will be gone.

There are heating cables which can be installed on the edge of roofs to prevent the ice build up. Plug in when it starts to melt. They are installed in a zig zag pattern attached to the underside of the shingles.
