A good carpet shampoo er works great, especially the Bissel Big Green Machine, in my opinion the best there is on the market today! It will pull up hair you never knew was in your rugs or carpet! But there not exactly a cheap machine to buy! If you look around you may find one you can rent? If you need to use one very often your better off cost wise to buy your own though!
Vac then use a lint roller
A rubber end of a window cleaner. It will surprise you on how much your vacuum leaves behind. Time consuming but it work
I use strips of masking tape on the tough ones.
