Current trend is for grays, greige and white. Very neutral backdrop. I do not do "trends" - ever. Unless you are selling your house soon, paint it what you like, show your personality! It is your space and you need to be happy in it.
I second Naomie. Some once told me to look in my closet...what was the dominant color on the hangers? Blue. Yup. Painted the bedroom blue. Never regretted it.

Kitchen colors, I think, should be vibrant and happy. Yellows and reds. I had an orange kitchen once.
As far as I am concerned there should not be trends, it is what you like and no one else opinion. Browse paint chips, bring them in your own house, test based on all the time lighting.Grays can play brown, blue and green, whites yellow, taupes pink and the list will go on.....
So many things are gray right now, including kitchens. Then you can accent with any primary color like red. Many small appliances are available in red now, for instance. But donโt use big colors for the large, expensive appliances, because your choice may go out of fashion and production in a few years. Stainless steel, in various tones and textures, will be in style and available for many years. Best wishes โบ๏ธ
When choosing colors for a kitchen, the colors of certain things are more important. Choose cabinets, backsplash, counters and flooring in colors that can go with a lot of different color walls. Walls are the easiest and least expensive to change and make a big impact. Don't be guided by fads that are gone before you even have it payed off. Designers need to come up with different colors and designs to stay in business.
I've done a few kitchens but my two favorite are:
One that had cream cabinets with white glaze (I always thought the brown glaze made the cabinets look dirty), black appliances, very light backsplash, cherry floors and door and a dark green granite counter.
The other had cherry cabinets, brown/tan tile floor, cream/reddish-brown granite counter, stainless steel appliances, and a light backsplash with accents of reddish-brown and cream.
Lighting also makes a difference.
You need to pick colors that you like and can live with for a long time.
