Hi! Yes you can! First start by cleaning them really well to remove all grease and dust. Then prime with Kilz primer paint. This you can get at any hardware store. Then pick your color paint and go for it! You may have to give it more than one coat depending on the color it is but it will hold up better with more than one coat! Would love to see pictures if you try it! You can do your own tutorial! :D
Painting slate is not recommended. But you might want to try whitewashing it with a thin coat of primer or applying Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Try it on one tile first that is not in a prominent place. If you like the results, do the entire backsplash. However, remember that once you make that decision, there’s no going back. Good luck!
I would try the chalk paint, mine us taking 2 coats.
Yes! Take a photo of the backsplash to the paint department of your home improvement store and ask for their advice. They have the newest paints and finishes and the best applicators for a professional finish.
