How close are you to the traffic? What floor are you on??
Also- how did you pick THIS place?
In my area, we have an interstate 2 miles away, so we picked a neighborhood on the opposite side of the mountain.
Above the 6th floor in a tall building, little traffic noise is much lower than on the bottom 2.
More info can help, but other than hanging HEAVY curtains, or replacing windows with double-pane (or triple), there is little to do with Light construction! Do you have another bedroom available?
Not sure there is you can to do on your house. More insulation? I would plant evergreens between the road and your house.
We actually found a loop of a box fan running. Downloaded it to our phone attached phone to speakers and we have white noise. In the summer we actually run a box fan or two!
Get a noise machine (around $60). I live on a busy city street and it works wonders blocking out the city noise. Also helps block my husband’s snoring, but not quite as efficiently.
Not a DIY answer but my son put white noise machines in his kids rooms so they wouldn’t hear the traffic.
