Hi Pat! YES!you can paint over it. First, clean the entire cabinet with a good degreaser. I prefer to use simple green. Primer with KILTZ as that will remove odor and seal in the stain.
I would clean the shelf well with a de-greasing product and allow to dry before trying to paint it.
Hi Pat. I had the same thing happen. I clean the area with a degreaser. It did work. Good Luck!
To remove motor oil stains you need a purple degreaser.
