You need to keep using stainless steel polish after every rain

My mother-in-law used to clean the stainless grill to get any grease off and then polish with baby oil. It looked nice and seemed to last for a fairly long time, but would need periodic redos during the simmer. I haven't tried this so can't personally recommend. I have also read where baby oil works for kitchen stainless steel. I keep wondering if the oil will attract dirt, but maybe it works.

Use automobile paste wax. Buff to a nice sheen. Good luck.

After all those recommendations one question, are you protecting them from the elements?

    • Trying to. But my husband stored some mercuric acid and clorox under the cabinet for our pool and now the door and fridge have rust on them. I would like to get as much of the rust off as I can and keep them look nice. Have any ideas?

I only use a damp cloth to clean my stainless steel and make sure to buff it dry with a soft cloth. The fewer additives the better for me.
