do you mean pans or a cast iron stove? Cast iron stove, I used to use Williams graphite and carbon black stove paste.... gives a beautiful sheen that you only get with graphite.
Cast iron pans, if rusted use kosher salt and scrub with a round plastic scrubby, then when clean re-season the pan with lard, bacon fat, salt pork fat. Add a couple chunks of fat to pan and put in a 200 degree oven, wiping the fan all over the inside of the pan, add more over time and spread around, I usually do this for about 3-4 hours when the pan lost its seasoning.
Try cleaning with baking soda, make a paste and scrub with a scrungie sponge. Wipe down with a clean rag, repeat until the stove is clean.
