How can I keep rain from running off sidewalk into newly planted yard?

    We find that we need some sort of edging in our situation here to keep the mulch and soil in the garden bed— off the sidewalk.

    You could consider using pavers or some sort of edging found at the box stores hardware stores -the edging could be plastic wood or metal to corral the areas next to your sidewalk

    It sounds like you need a ditch to get water to go away from your house. Check with someone who knows landscaping. The ground next to your house must be graded away from your house toward the ditch as well because it sounds like you get some flooding in your yard, too.


    Now waste water treatment plants grow cattails and wheat to dry up water, so you might want to plant some of those next to your sidewalk.
