I wouldn't use a curtain at all. I don't think the blinds need it. If there's room, you could add décor above the windows to add some color.
Agree with Barb. It is a more updated look to not have these ruffled valances over venetian blinds.
I like what's there now. If you want to change to another color or fabric, I would use your existing valance as a pattern for a different fabric.....(then you don't have to change out the rods!)...try something totally different---- burlap for a rustic look....white or navy denim for a beachy feel......or bold stripes for a nautical look.
Maybe try some lacey curtains! When blinds are open they let in light but still have privacy, n when blinds are closed, they ad just lol more darkness!
I removed my valances, painted all my wood trim white, and painted the kitchen walls a medium grey. My bay looked like yours before now it looks more modern.
Use a cornice board shaped to go over all 3 windows. Cover just the top of the blinds. The rest up on the wall to whatever height you like. Cover or paint a complimentary color. Try wider slate blinds. No ruffles or flounces in that small area. Then you can "open up" to the sunshine whenever you want.
I personally do not like valances nor would I like lacy curtains in the kitchen. It all depends on your decorating style. How do you describe it?
How about trying something like these ideas to soften the area up?
