Support rafters unless you know what you're doing is not a DIY job. Hire a pro.

Give Temporary support with a "dead man" while you are doing the replacement

it is my understanding that they are NOT rafters they are FLOOR joist, and as such carry thousands of pounds of weight!! so do this very carefully.

the professionals do it in stages and with several jacks to disperse the weight on full replacement.

but, a person can do what is known as crippling it, that is putting a 1/4" steel plate about 6 inches past the break and use two jacks to ascertain that they are level then put a plate on both sides and bolt it with a minimum of 3/8 inch bolts.

    or you could use c-steel.

    Good luck.
