That soil now may be acidic....I would add some garden soil and plant perennials that love acidic soil. Add some soil to it and grass seed may all you need to do to get new grass.

Vacuum the chips with your shop vac. as long as they’re not pine, save them in the brown paper wine bags you get at the liquor store. Rake and enrich the soil, mulch it over the summer, and get some planters with vegetables or flower and comfortable seating. Give it the summer to recover and try seeding early fall.

Put in a small pond, fire pit. Fill it with sand make a zen garden, cactus garden, Fairy Garden. Do you have yard collections? Start some if not . Bird feeders. Bird bath, sitting bench.

For myself I’d make a little pond with a little bridge across it. Plant some flowers around it.

Hope this gets the ideas coming in!

    Good Luck☘️!

Get rid of the wood chips, rake clean. It will grow back. You can reseed or lay sod if you don't want to wait for it to fill in naturally. I went through this, that's what I did and eventually grass grew back.
